In 2011 the Fund opened a permanent eye clinic in Dembi Dollo in Ethiopia, named The Fiona Dolan Eye Clinic. In October 2012 Fiona's family made the long trip to open it officially. The photos shows them cleaning the clinic, helping to look after the patients and observing an operation. The experience was a very special one for the whole family.  

By agreement with the local Ethiopian Health Authority, Fiona's Eye Fund sends teams of doctors to the clinic to spend approximately a week operating on cataracts. In return the Ethiopian Authority has employed an Ethiopian ophthalmic nurse to work permanently in the clinic. We have also contributed towards the training of two Ethiopian nurses. Unfortunately at the moment civil unrest has meant that it is not safe for our teams to go to the clinic but we hope that they will soon be able to return. Meantime our teams are working in different areas of Ethiopia.
